We will be visiting Scotland from August 8th to August 17th, 2026. We'll stay in Glasgow for the majority of the time making day trips to visit other destinations. While bagpipes originated in Asia, Scotland has adopted them as a part of their national identity and made them their own. Piping has become a part of their culture and national heritage making it an extremely attractive place for a bagpiper to visit. Traveling to Scotland, specifically Glasgow during the second week of August, is a bagpipers version of a pilgrimage to Mecca.
On Sunday Aug. 9th, 2026 we will compete at the European Pipe Band Championships in Perth, Scotland.
We will spend one of our days in Edinburgh, Scotland and will attend The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo while there. This event takes place at the historic Edinburgh Castle and draws people from all over the world to watch performances combining music, marching, and dancing.
"An experience like no other, our Show brings together the best of British Military with international performances from a global cast. Presenting emotionally charged entertainment featuring cutting edge lighting, sound and military precision."
On Saturday August 16th, 2026 we will compete in Grade 4B at the World Pipe Band Championships at Glasgow Green on the banks of the River Clyde. Celtic Cross has not been at this event in 20 years. Pipe Sergeant Kevin Nickerson and Drum Sergeant Wendy Garnant, both still with the band, went on the last trip the band took to this event in 2005.
